John Ward has a wide range of experience in national security, education, driving economic growth and innovation, capital markets, and in both small & large businesses. Now, he is running for Congress because he believes Washington needs more ‘Get-It-Done Outsiders’ who will fight for our individual liberties, protect our freedoms, and ensure this generation and future generations can live in peace, prosperity, and liberty. He wants to get Florida’s 6th District growing again.
From a very early age, John’s parents impressed on him the values of working hard, being dedicated to God & county, and having an appreciation for the value of service to others.John was born in Boston, Mass. in August of 1965 and is the youngest of three children. His mother, Joyce was a nurse, and his father John Sr. served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and became a technology professional and entrepreneur after the war.
John attended public school and furthered his education with degrees from Middlebury College, the Amos Tuck Business School at Dartmouth College, and from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
After college, John entered the United States Navy and was a distinguished Naval Graduate from the Navy’s officer candidate school in Pensacola where he received a regular Navy commission. While serving as an officer with U.S. Naval Intelligence, John was deployed around the globe as part of Operation Desert Storm, complex joint services operations in counter-narcotics, and significant humanitarian operations. He saw first-hand how important a strong national defense can be to the safety of our nation and the essential role of the United States, and our military, as a force for good and stability in the world.
Following his service in the Navy, John entered the business world as a growth company investor. He has invested in and built successful companies that have employed thousands of people, driven innovation, and added hundreds of millions in value to the economy. John has helped countless job seekers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners achieve the American Dream through his leadership, training, time, and investment in their individual successes and the growth of their businesses.
John has been happily married to his wife Kristie for 17 years. Together they have three children ages 13, 11, and 8.
